Hello ,My wife and I while hiking near Big Bay Michigan(exact location withheld at the moment) encountered a fairly large beautiful Cougar @ about 20-30 feet away,on fathers day June 17th around 4.30 pm,we were making some noise cuz we thought there might be Black Bear in the area, but being close to a water fall we speculated that he didn't hear us coming and it was a surprise encounter,we stopped together and he starred us down and maybe even sized us up,my wife and I kept our eyes on him as we stood frozen both us and the cat, then together we raised our arms ,barked liked dogs and made an aggressive move towards the cat and he instantly bolted away, being experienced outdoors people and having lived in Montana for a spell we are accustom to large predators, but Cougars can surely take your breath away ,we hope he can live on in peace in our wonderful Michigan wilderness, we regret not having our camera !
