|St. Clair County- cougar sighted, concern for horses.
Reported Mon 11/12/2007 8:22 AM to www.savethecougar.org
Date of Observation: October 27, 2007
Time: 2:00 PM
County: ST. Clair
Location Description: 2 Miles south of I-69 on Wales Center Road
"This animal was in our north field that is planted in winter wheat. It was walking along the tree line. It was tawny in color and appeared to be about 70 pounds. On Nov. 10 we found a dead deer behind our barn by another treeline. The only thing left was the head and legs. The insides were gone and the ribs were chewed to the bones. I found paw prints by our pond measuring about 2 inches. I have pictures of the prints and the dead deer. I am worried about my horses that are in a pasture in that area. Do I need to report this to the DNR or will they ignore it? Thank you, -G.G."
